Cape Coast

This weekend we travelled to Cape Coast. Kakum National Park was our first stop! At the park we were able to do the canopy walk! It was one of the most amazing things that I have ever laid eyes on. I was actually a little nervous while crossing from platform to platform!! My stomach became full of butterflies and my feet were like lead. I can't imagine how a person afraid of heights would make it!!! On our way down from the canopy walk we heard monkeys....as I was getting my video camera out everyone saw them...except for me! After the canopy walk we went to the crocodile sanctuary. It was completely different than our sanctuaries! There were no gates or fences to seperate the crocodiles from the people! It was pretty amazing! We then drove down the coast to Elmina Castle. This was a slave exporting castle. It was the most depressing experience. I could not wait to get out of the castle. They put us in the cells that the slaves were kept in and shut the door. It was awful. But in the end I am glad that I experienced the castle and felt that much misery for the slaves that travelled through those gates. It's just another part of the culture that I had to experience.

Hi Honey -
WOW what an experience this weekend for you! The canopy walk sounded like a great experience. And you are not afraid of heights either! So I applaud you that nothing stops you from experiencing life! YOU GO!
The slave castle, that had to have been hard to see and experience. Sorry for that time to see. But different cultures - different times!
I LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH!
You have a good day!
Love
Your Mama
That canopy walk looks frickin sweet! Did you ride any gators? How come you're always missing the monkeys? Don't worry, we'll see bunches when we go on our travels. I love you!!
